Miss Vermont’s Outstanding Teen 2019 is Danielle Trottier, a 17-year-old student at Spaulding Highschool. An avid dancer, Danielle performed a Jazz routine to “Cinema Italiano” at the June 1, 2019 competition. She hopes to have careers as a professional dancer and as a child psychiatrist. Dance has been a major part of her life and she has formed her platform around these two passions. Throughout her year of service, she will promote her platform, “Breaking Barriers at the Barre” which aims to make dance accessible to individuals who would not normally be able to attend a regular dance class due to their disabilities.
Once a month, Danielle will hold a 45-minute dance class for people of all ages who range in a variety of developmental disabilities. They will start each class by stretching, and then they will learn a choreographed routine which they will perform at her studio’s final recital at the end of the dance season. This will enable Danielle to be involved in the community and gain skills crucial to professional and communal success.
Danielle competed for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2020 in Orlando, Florida in July.
